One of the first things people notice when visiting Rosehill Montessori School is our incredible garden which wraps around the entire building and front parking lot. Consisting of many different types of plants and flowers, our gardens make for a colorful welcome to everyone. The plantings have been gifts and a result of school projects over the years. The various shapes, sizes and colors also represent the diverse population of our families and staff.
Being located near downtown Lisle, also known as the Arboretum Village and home to the world famous Morton Arboretum, we also maintain the practice of “blending innovation with a respect for nature”. In addition to all of the beautiful flowers, we also grow fruits and vegetables which are made available to the children for snacks and with their lunches.
Inside the school, we have two main classrooms. The downstairs classroom shares space with the administrative offices, school library and downstairs kitchen area and bathrooms.
With high, vaulted ceilings and open floor plan, the upstairs classroom offers slightly more space which makes it a favorite for combined class activities and special events / programs.
Our school is also home to a number of pets that live in the building year-round. We currently share our space with a bird, a salamander, a turtle, and one gigantic frog.
In the back, we have our very own playground with several slides and things to climb on. The ground is covered in recycled rubber mulch which makes the ground much softer for playing.
